| Married/Pregnant
Students
Married students shall have the same educational opportunities as unmarried students. The Board of Education shall be responsible for the education of all school-age children, including pregnant students who shall be allowed to remain in school and receive appropriate support services as required. A pregnant student may remain in the regular school program as long as her medical condition permits. Any variation from a pregnant student's continued participation in regular classes shall be based on her specific needs. Homebound and hospitalized instruction shall be provided for any child otherwise not needing special education upon the written request of the student and/or guardian and/or the physician. For students who may need special education and/or related services, a referral to the placement and planning team shall be initiated to identify and provide appropriate services. Any student who is under age 16 and a mother may request permission from the board to attend adult education classes in lieu of the regular school program. Transportation shall not be the responsibility of the school system if a student chooses to attend adult education classes. Legal References:
