SCHOOL CALENDAR

The Board encourages and will support a school calendar, which has as its primary aim the enhancement of instruction. The calendar should be organized to promote the maximum coordination with area public and private schools.

The Superintendent will introduce a proposed calendar to the Board no later than the second meeting in January to be acted upon by the Board no later than the second meeting in March.

The administration shall be directed by the following in the formulation of the recommended school calendar:

1. The calendar will include an appropriate balance of sustained periods of instruction and spaced vacations by scheduling vacations in February and April.

2. School will generally not be held the last week of June. If bad weather days require
making up school time, make-up days shall not take place in the last week of June until
the April vacation is utilized for make-up purposes.

2. If school days are lost after the April vacation is past, or the number of make-up days
is so extensive as to require holding school into the last week of June in order to
complete the necessary number of school days prior to June 30, the final week of June
may then be used.
