Highland Park Elementary School's "Helping Hands Club" made a 'sweet' delivery to Hartford Hospital's Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center Radiation Oncology Department in December. The Helping Hand members delivered more than 50 pounds of candy for patients receiving daily cancer treatment.

During Nathan Hale's Walk Around the World evening, the 5th grades traveled back in time and became Colonial America. Students created models of a colonial settlement, designed PowerPoints, set up colonial games and made butter for students to get a taste for the experiences of the colonists.
